An archaic farm house on Saaremaa needs help.

I can restore those parts that only require will and enthusiasm and a little money, but unfortunately there are other parts that require more funds.

The most serious problem is the roof. On one side the thatched roof is covered with eternit, but on the other side there is nothing but old rotten moss-grown thatch. The roof leaks at some places.

I am not able to make a new roof myself and I can’t afford to have it made. There is no hope to get a status of architectural monument and support from National Heritage Board. Not to mention any other support from the government.

I will be very grateful for donations, if there are generous people or organisations that like my idea to restore Mardi farm and preserve a part of our history and culture for future generations.

Just as the Zoo should not be the only place where you can see animals, restored archaic farm houses should be seen not in the Open Air Museum only, but also in other places all over Estonia.
